MORNING SESSION #87: November 18, 2025 / posted January 22, 2026
The motivation for any trip begins with a heart-to-heart connection, and our trip to Spain in November 2025 was most certainly that. For years, we had been telling our very dear friend that we would be visiting him. Then the shutdown happened, and we settled into homebase. In early 2025, I got a very clear message. “It is time to go”. So go we did.
I loved every minute of our time together exploring and being shown such iconic sites, visiting with his family, and being treated to traditional Spanish dinners. Our friend’s pride in his country and connection to family and friends was awe-inspiring. Of course, we knew that about him. He never meets a stranger.
Once I knew I was going, the Black Madonna showed up in my awareness. I started doing research. I started having dreams. Then the synchronicity was off the charts. In October, a friend in North Carolina gave me two statues of the Black Madonna. I carried them with me. When she gave them to me, she simply said, “These are not mine. I‘m to give them to you.”
What?
I wondered what Spirit was trying to tell me. As I continued to research, I found that some believe this statue is an early Christian symbol of Mother and Child. As I dug deeper, I resonated with the pre-Christian symbol theory, that of the Earth as Mother and Humanity as Child.
Either way, as we neared the final stop that early morning, making our way up to the mountain sanctuary, the anticipation of getting close to this revered statue became a point of fascination and intrigue. As we departed the train and made our way into the Cathedral plaza, we were directed through the side of the church, where we then went up a series of narrow stairs. As I made my way onto the top of the landing where I was eye to eye and lightly touched her hand, I felt both a quickening of excitement and a sense of deep reverence.
And then it was over. Up the stairs, see the statue, then down the stairs we went. Afterward, I felt called to sit in the quiet and be with the energy of the Madonna. So, we made our exit out of the Cathedral along with all the other tourists, only to return to sit quietly through mass.
I was fascinated by her prominence, positioned high above all the ornateness of this opulent sacred space. Then the monks reverently filed into the front and gently began their morning service. At the close of their time of worship, as we filed out, I got it. Spirit was showing me the divine feminine presence acting as a buffer to the masculine that plays out in our world. That is what I came for, to see the Mother - Father God at work in all of creation.
I left the Cathedral with a sense of joy in my heart, and I wanted to offer a prayer of thanks, and so I did.
