MS #94: A community sharing
It’s been years, but just yesterday, pictures and videos of a magical evening popped up on a friend’s social media page. Hayat Bain, one of the collaborators from that evening, sent a screenshot to Mark, and the back-and-forth sharing ensued.
Mark was the motivator and organizer of this particular concert. Hayat and her husband John Ramsey shared their musical talents, and Will Sterling, the improvisational dancer extraordinaire. My role was that of storyteller.
Some songs were planned; others were spontaneous collaborations. What is posted above unfolded totally in the moment, which was what made Will all the more remarkable in his ability to dance the story as Mark played his beautifully composed piano. My part was to stay focused on what wanted to pour forth to tell a story.
This manifested phase of our creative process began when I first met Mark. It wasn’t long before he set up a microphone, placed it in my hands, and said, “Speak. Just say what comes to you while I play piano.”
What?!
I resisted and then acquiesced. As soon as he started playing and I relaxed into the moment, the energy blasted through the top of my head. My inner vision opened up and out came magical stories of whimsical nature spirits, children, and frogs—lots of stories of frogs.
Who knew?
That was the beginning of a multiple-year process of channeled public sessions of what came to be called Songs and Stories of Creation. There was no rehearsal, no planning on my part. Just show up and see what flows forth.
Before I knew it, after my first book was published, the signings, talks and Living the Miracle workshops turned into channeled messages from the Guides, and teaching metaphors full of love and compassion.
That’s when I met Hayat and Will.
Then Spirit guided me to share in the most public space I could think of—the public library. I posted evening talks, and was gobsmacked to find so many people who were led to be there. The magic of Spirit ministering to others through me was surreal.
As I look back, that whole process, I believe, was the Guides’ way of breaking down my resistance to trust in the higher consciousness that so fervently flowed through me.
Mark, Hayat, John, and especially free-spirited, playful Will were the embodiment of spontaneous expression. There were many steps, many events, and Spirit-guided experiences that led me to loosen up and trust in the flow of the Divine.
And that evening? It was all about friends having fun, creating music, dance, and story magic together.
